It was the last thing Danielle Anderson was expecting when ex Full Tilt head honcho Howard Lederer came and sat at her table at the WSOP Main Event on Monday.
She wasn’t happy about it— whether he had issued an apology to the poker community or not.
OMG SHE’S REPLACED BY HOWARD LEDERER! This can’t be real life. I think I’m actually going to be physically sick. #WSOP— Danielle Andersen (@dmoongirl) July 11, 2016

Anderson was a prolific online player before Black Friday and has since moved to playing on the cash game circuit.

Antonio Esfandiari, Danielle Andersen and Dan O’Brien are still sponsored by the Nevada-based company. But these three can’t be cheap – especially Esfandiari – and UP continues to struggle in an American online poker market that hasn’t quite taken off yet. Danielle Andersen started the conversation on Twitter when she aired her thoughts about moving on from poker. The high stakes cash player has been at the top of the game for more than 15 years and is now thinking about new challenges.
Clearly still feeling raw from the Full Tilt sh*t storm that Howard Lederer was responsible for, Anderson was vocal at the table at her distaste for having to sit near him.
He hasn’t caused enough pain? He has to show his face & be a constant reminder to the worst time of my fucking life? So fucked.— Danielle Andersen (@dmoongirl) July 11, 2016
Not prepared to remain silent, Anderson asked Lederer questions most had been thinking:
Me: 'does it not bother you it’s physically painful for people to see you? Like I actually am sick to my stomach right now bc you’re here?’— Danielle Andersen (@dmoongirl) July 11, 2016

Howard nods & quietly says 'yeah it bothers me.’ Me: 'then why are you here? The least you can do is leave us alone.’ No response.— Danielle Andersen (@dmoongirl) July 11, 2016

Bagged 69k. More importantly, didn’t get arrested or 86’d & handled myself w/ as much dignity as I possibly could under circumstances.— Danielle Andersen (@dmoongirl) July 11, 2016
Anderson has also appeared in the documentary Bet, Raise, Fold that raised from the ashes of Black Friday. This was her last tweet on the matter and parting shot to Lederer.
I’m all about making the best of shitty situations. Parting gift for all. Sup @howardhlederer? Looking good. #WSOP https://t.co/Qg2WFKGsKc— Danielle Andersen (@dmoongirl) July 11, 2016

Mike 'The Mouth' Matusow has hinted that he may be done with poker. The feisty live tournament legend and multiple WSOP gold bracelet winner tweeted how he has reassessed his priorities during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Time to Try Something New
Danielle Andersen started the conversation on Twitter when she aired her thoughts about moving on from poker. The high stakes cash player has been at the top of the game for more than 15 years and is now thinking about new challenges.

“I’ve always loved poker but this extended break + craziness of the world has me reevaluating if it’s really what I want to do forever. For the first time ever I find myself daydreaming of walking away & doing something else.”
She’s not the first top player to get past 30 and realise that there are other things in life besides poker.

Matusow, on the other hand, comes across as a man who is all about poker through and through. Could he really consider doing something else?
Responding to Andersen he said:
He is now 52 years old and gives the impression that he’ll be still at the tables until his days are done. The poker scene will certainly be the poorer for his absence. He is one of the most entertaining plates ever seen at a live table, always speaking his mind and injecting a good dose of humour.
One Twitter follower asked how he can consider walking to do something new when he has just started a poker podcast.

“How have you removed yourself? You do a poker podcast and tag along Phil to play poker w/ his money full-time. Is there something you’re not telling us?”

This might be a relevant point. Matusow is known to have been playing in high stakes cash games with Phil Hellmuth’s money. Could he really be broke? His money management is famously random at the best of times and he has been busto on more than one occasion.
