Ironman Roll Down

The only way to qualify for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship is by earning a qualifying slot at one of the Ironman 70.3 races held around the world. The roll-down policy works the same as with the Ironman World Championship, and athletes pay for the race when they earn their slot ($400 for the 2014 race). The price, aesthetics, durability and aerodynamics were also considered, as was the versatility of each suit. Many of the Ironman tri-suits were also tested for their aerodynamic abilities at the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub’s wind tunnel. Best tri and Ironman tri-suits to buy in 2020. The best short-sleeved tri-suits; The best vested. About 80 percent of the participants at the IRONMAN World Championship get there by qualifying at another 140.6-mile race. Qualifying is possible at each of IRONMAN's full-distance races around the world. The number of qualifying slots at each race varies, but it's usually somewhere between 40 and 100 slots. Most IRONMAN races have 50 slots.

  • We’re always thinking about the families and organizations that make each race community vibrant and unique. We know what gets them out of bed in the morning and what keeps them up at night, and we’re working to make their lives better.
